Livermore Public Library will present Beatles Covers Uncovered!, a talk by music historian and author Dulais Rhys, Ph.D., on Tuesday, Sept. 8, 2026, at 7 p.m. at the Civic Center Library, 1188 S. Livermore Ave., Livermore, CA.
Although the Beatles are renowned for the Lennon–McCartney songwriting partnership, many of the group’s early hits—including Twist and Shout—were cover versions of songs first recorded by other artists. During this one-hour talk, Rhys will compare the original recordings with the Beatles’ interpretations of classic 1950s pop songs while exploring the backgrounds of the original performers and the influence these artists had on the band’s early sound.
The presentation is designed for Beatles fans, music enthusiasts, and anyone interested in the history of popular music. Attendees will gain a deeper appreciation for the artists and recordings that helped shape one of the most influential bands in modern music.
