A new interactive musical public artwork honoring pioneering electronic musician Don Lewis will debut June 4, 2026, at Delucchi Park in downtown Pleasanton. The Maestro, created by artist Anton Standteiner & Mountain Forge, transforms the plaza into a participatory sound environment where visitors create layered musical tones using six sculptural instruments including: Contrabass Chimes, Pagoda Bells, Aria Metallophone, Manta Ray Chime, Cymbals and Harp. The installation pays tribute to Don Lewis, creator of the groundbreaking Live Electronic Orchestra (LEO), considered a forerunner of MIDI technology and modern electronic music performance. At the center stands “Maestro,” a monumental mixed-metal sculpture featuring Lewis’s signature red shoes and constructed from bronze, stainless steel, copper, and rivets reclaimed from the eastern span of the Bay Bridge. The project combines sculpture, music, technology, and public participation in a way rarely seen in civic art installations. Unveiling: Thursday, June 4, 2026 4:00 PM DeLucchi Park, First Street, Pleasanton
