Livermore Public Library is pleased to announce an engaging online author talk featuring Marianne Monson, acclaimed author of Frontier Grit: The Unlikely True Stories of Daring Pioneer Women. This virtual event will take place on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, at 7 p.m. PST via Zoom: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/88064438285. Monson will share compelling accounts of courageous women who defied societal expectations and helped shape the American frontier. Her work emphasizes resilience, adventure, and determination, bringing history to life in ways that both inspire and inform. A best-selling author of twelve books for children and adults, Monson specializes in frontier-era women’s history. Her nonfiction work Frontier Grit was nominated for the American Library Association’s Amelia Bloomer Award, and its companion volume, Women of the Blue and Gray (2018), earned a Foreword Reviews silver medal. Her latest historical novel, The Opera Sisters, tells the true story of Ida and Louise Cook, who aided refugees fleeing Nazi Germany. Monson’s poetry and prose have appeared in publications such as Rain Magazine, Hipfish, Coast Weekend, The Seattle Times, Northwest Review, and Our Coast Magazine.
