SUMMARY:Livermore Public Library – Park After Dark: Traps & Night Blooms with LARPD
DESCRIPTION:Livermore Public Library, in partnership with Livermore Area Recreation and Park District (LARPD), invites the community to explore the wonders of the nighttime environment at Park After Dark – Traps & Night Blooms. This unique evening program will take place on Friday, June 5, 2026, from 8:30 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. at Sycamore Grove Park Nature Area, located at 4365 Arroyo Rd., Livermore, CA 94550.

Participants will discover what emerges in the park after sunset through an engaging, guided experience. The program will begin with the setup of light traps designed to attract nocturnal insects, offering a close-up look at species that are rarely seen during daylight hours. Attendees will then enjoy a slow, approximately one-mile walk along Dry Creek, where they will learn about the nighttime-blooming Sacred Datura plant and the moths that rely on it for survival.

Guests are welcome to bring flashlights or headlamps; however, their use will be limited throughout the evening to preserve the natural nighttime setting and enhance wildlife observation opportunities.

Registration is required for this program. To reserve a spot, please call 925-373-5505. Parking at the site is free, though space is limited.

For additional program information, call 925-373 5500, visit library.livermoreca.gov, or follow the Library on social media.
